Changes from 2024 to 2026
INTERPOL amended its data rules and the CCF Statute in November 2025 and moved all CCF requests to an online portal in March 2026. Investigative reporting in January 2026 questioned how safeguards are applied.
- At its 93rd session in Marrakech on 24 to 27 November 2025, the General Assembly adopted Resolution No. 8, which deleted Article 94 of the Rules on the Processing of Data and amended Articles 3, 19, 23, 25, 28 and 33 of the CCF Statute. The vote was 127 in favour, none against and 2 abstentions.1
- A law firm analysis says the deleted Article 94 concerned Stolen Work of Art Notices and that the Statute changes expand the CCF's powers on abusive requests, limit its access to direct messaging and add a 45 day response deadline for the General Secretariat.2
- From 26 March 2026 the CCF accepts requests only through its online portal.3
- In January 2026 the BBC and Disclose reported, citing a whistleblower and leaked material, that INTERPOL eased some extra checks on Russian requests. INTERPOL said some accusations appeared to stem from a misunderstanding of how its systems work or from factual errors.4,5
- JURIST, summarising that reporting, said the CCF removed at least 322 notices in 2024.6
